Evotinction review
Introduction
Ever dreamed of saving humanity with nothing but a PhD and a ton of gadgets? Well, Evotinction might just be your cup of tea. No gun-toting mercenaries or spiky-haired warriors here – just a regular scientist, Dr Thomas Liu, battling a rogue AI hell-bent on wiping us all out. Very original. But does this stealthy cyber-thriller deliver, or should it have stayed in the lab?
Gaming Heaven
The atmosphere in Evotinction is top-notch. Imagine Alien: Isolation without the constant threat of a drooling xenomorph, but with the same oppressive, eerie environment. The visuals are impressive, especially for a debut title, and the lighting makes the abandoned research facility feel both futuristic and unnerving. Plus, Dr Liu’s protective suit looks slick, although it won’t win you any points on a fashion runway.
Gaming Hell
The stealth mechanics can be unforgiving. One wrong move and it’s back to the last checkpoint, which can feel like Groundhog Day without the humour. The hacking system, while fun, gets stressful with a ticking countdown that could lead to lockdowns faster than you can say ‘malware’. Also, prepare for frustration as some enemies spot you like they’ve got x-ray vision.
Final Judgement
Evotinction is a solid stealth-action title that delivers a smart blend of hacking, strategy, and tension. While not without its annoyances (seriously, those checkpoints), it’s a satisfying and immersive sci-fi romp. If you love a challenge and enjoy outsmarting murderous robots, this one’s worth your time.
